Health & Safety

Pregnancy is a time to be especially careful to live, work & act safely. Choices made with regard to your health and lifestyle may affect the rest of your and your child's life.

The Midwives Model of Care promotes a healthy mother and baby through healthful lifestyle choices & appropriate day-to-day cautions.

You will be treated like an "egg"... and why should you NOT be treated like this? You are carrying a precious, wonderful human being within you. Those around you are desirous of your well-being. That is why dropped items will be picked up, doors will be opened, and hands will be extended to you.

You're pregnant! Take special care...

Safety Belt Use
During Pregnancy

Vehicle safety belts are important for everyone, including pregnant women.

Like all vehicle occupants, they are more likely to be seriously injured if they don't wear safety belts.

As shown, a pregnant woman should wear both parts of the lap-shoulder belt. The lap portion should be worn as low as possible, below the round, fullness of the uterus.

The best way to protect the fetus is to protect the mother. When a safety belt is worn properly, it's more likely that the fetus won't be hurt in a crash.

For pregnant women, as for anyone,
the key to making safety belts
effective is wearing them properly
and using them ALWAYS!
